Origin: France; this type of lamp was often manufactured in France, notably by houses specializing in high-end lighting, and could be sold in department stores or by decorators influenced by the Art Deco movement.

Style: Onyx was a prized material in the 1920s-30s for lighting and decorative objects. It was often used in combination with gilded metal, brass, or patinated bronze. The balanced, geometric shapes of the base confirm its Art Deco inspiration, which sought to combine luxury and modernity using noble materials.

Antique lampshade restored to new condition. Pleated and adorned with ribbon and a matching tassel finish.
